Role & Responsibilities

1. Strategic Planning & Policy Implementation

  • Assists in developing the vision, mission, and goals of the institution.
  • Provides inputs for long-term planning, including infrastructure development and academic expansion.
  • Ensures that the policies laid down by the governing body or university are implemented effectively at the institutional level.

2. Budgeting and Financial Oversight

  • Participates in the preparation and approval of the annual budget.
  • Monitors the utilization of funds and ensures transparency in financial matters.
  • Approves expenses related to academic, administrative, and infrastructural development.

3. Academic Development and Quality Assurance

  • Supports the academic planning of the institution, including new programs and courses.
  • Encourages quality initiatives like NAAC accreditation, NBA accreditation, etc.
  • Recommends measures for improving teaching-learning processes, research, and student performance.

4. Administrative Support

  • Assists the principal and staff in the smooth conduct of day-to-day operations.
  • Helps in recruitment, appraisal, and service matters of teaching and non-teaching staff (as per norms).
  • Plays a role in discipline and grievance redressal within the institution.

5. Liaison and Communication

  • Acts as a bridge between the management, faculty, students, and stakeholders.
  • Maintains effective communication with affiliating university, regulatory bodies, and local community.
  • Encourages industry-institute interaction and promotes collaboration with external organizations.

6. Student Welfare and Extracurricular Activities

  • Promotes and supports student-centric initiatives like cultural, sports, NSS, and social activities.
  • Ensures the availability of necessary student support services, including counseling and mentoring.
  • Encourages the formation of student councils and promotes leadership.

7. Compliance and Reporting

  • Ensures compliance with rules and regulations of affiliating and regulatory bodies.
  • Oversees the timely submission of reports, data, and documents to concerned authorities.
