Student Council

Role & Responsibilities

1. Representation

  • Represent the views, interests, and concerns of the student body to the college authorities.
  • Serve as a communication channel between students and faculty/administration.
  • Participate in institutional bodies like the IQAC, anti-ragging committee, or discipline committee, if nominated.

2. Leadership and Coordination

  • Provide leadership opportunities to students.
  • Coordinate with various departmental associations, clubs, and societies.
  • Assist in organizing college events such as annual day, sports day, cultural fests, seminars, etc.

3. Student Welfare

  • Identify and raise issues related to student welfare, including hostel, food, transport, safety, and academic support.
  • Promote initiatives related to mental health, peer mentoring, and career counseling.
  • Encourage inclusive participation of students from diverse backgrounds.

4. Organizing Events and Activities

  • Plan and conduct extracurricular and co-curricular activities—cultural, literary, sports, NSS/NCC events.
  • Facilitate participation in inter-collegiate competitions and university-level events.
  • Support the smooth conduct of orientation programs, fresher’s day, farewell, etc.

5. Discipline and Ethics

  • Help maintain discipline during college functions and day-to-day operations.
  • Encourage students to follow the code of conduct and maintain decorum on campus.
  • Work with faculty to resolve minor student disputes or issues amicably.

6. Social and Community Engagement

  • Initiate and support social service programs like blood donation, cleanliness drives, awareness campaigns.
  • Collaborate with NGOs or local bodies for community outreach.

7. Feedback and Improvement

  • Gather feedback from students regarding academic programs, faculty, facilities, and campus life.
  • Suggest practical improvements and innovations to college management.
  • Conduct student surveys or meetings to better understand collective concerns.

8. Academic Support

  • Promote peer learning, study circles, academic competitions, and workshops.
  • Collaborate with departments to conduct guest lectures, student presentations, and technical fests.
